Weekend Coffee Share~ · ~This Writing Life~

If we were having coffee~

IMG_3138

If we were having coffee, I would be sharing it on a sidewalk table with you. It is our first Farmers’ Market of the season, you see. Fresh organic produce, tables laden with seedlings, herb babies, and fragrant flower pots. The town begins to swell at 5pm for the market as kids rush among us headed for the craft tables. There are musicians, artists, and creative souls. There are local wine merchants offering just a sip of their unique blends~ all with those catchy artistic labels that I love.

I would tell you that I am in search of heirloom tomato plants for my garden, and a few herbal additions to the potager. I also seek to replenish my honey supply. Always local, always organic. We swear by its properties to aid our fits of allergies. You would mention how fragrant the air is today, just from the lavender that sits in the booth next to us. Lavender soaps, remedies, and lotions….we might just have to grab some…

There he is, coming our way. My husband joins us for a coffee before you have to leave. He explains his arrival before I can. He carries the bags, that is his job. He does not complain because his reward is a bit of ritual now: a ‘stop-in’ at our little brewery for craft beer and a handmade pizza of roasted garlic oil, house-made fresh Mozzarella, artichoke hearts, chevre goat cheese, baby spinach and kalamata olives. Our usual, before walking the short two blocks home.

As we linger over the coffee, I tell you that this will be a full weekend. Our little Colorado town fair is scheduled for Saturday too…and I shall have to tell you all about it, unless you can join me! Oh please do! Wear your sunhat, and bring water. Music in park later until the town lights the fireworks…the beer will be cold, the food tantalizing…I will save you a seat!

  1. What a lovely scene indeed, I would be tempted by the wines 😉 If we were having coffee, I would ask you tips for my garden as it seems that you have a green thumb! 😀

    1. You would be happily welcomed to join and chat! The wine would be perfectly delightful!
Garden tips? ha! I dream, plan and hope but it never looks like the magazine pics I am hoping for! Throw in the seeds, water and hope my compost does its thing….and oh, I do pull a weed out or two! It always is worth it, when those tomatoes are ready!
