If we were having coffee today, I would drag you with me to see this sculpture again. It is astonishing, to see steel welded into THIS.  I am obsessed with this enormous rendition of a fearless sea warrior and can not stop looking at it. I find it to be inspiring in the artist’s skill and breath-taking in its engineering wizardry. My husband is a master certified welder with 35 yrs experience, I remind you, and he does NOT do this. Oh, but if he could….sigh….

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that I am having this ridiculous fight with my diet. I have done this protocol before, been so very strong and disciplined, and success did arrive…but in the past two years, several emotional things occurred, all of which allowed me to wallow in my own pity pit and directly sabotaged any desire to maintain the “new and improved” me.  I would also tell you that I am not only quite shocked at myself but infuriated at my weaknesses. Then, I would recommit to you, right here, and there, that I shall be back on track starting today, and you had full reign to call me out if you see me sliding…

If we were having coffee, we would chat over Broncos and what will we do for a QB? We would discuss the political mire laugh at absurdities in our lives, and share our plans for summer. Then, we would pull out our notebooks and our pens and begin writing.

You and I. A morning of writing, as we have done for years now. Two word warriors, gliding in our own underwater adventures and fantasy worlds. Of seawitches and elephants, nomads and pirates. Two writing friends on a perfect Saturday, with a perfect plan:  Coffee..and…writing.
